Bragging from the Frozen Northland

greenspun.com : LUSENET : garden project : One Thread

It snowed again last night but wonder of wonders my crocuses are blooming today! The daffodils and tulips are starting to come up and my lilac bushes have buds on them. Finally...spring really is on it's way! :-)

Well, the daffodils are fading, but the tulips are just starting to get going. They've never bloomed at the same time here (NE Ohio).

I'm just waiting for the weather to warm up just a smidge so I can get my cucumbers and peas started. I do pot gardening (IN pots, not growing pot) since I don't really have dirt, and if the temperature dips the soil in the pots freezes.

So warm up already, stupid weather!

Well, I planted my very first perennials about a month ago, and lo and behold, the columbines are blooming, and boy are they ever pretty. Bar none my favorite plants in the whole garden, and that INCLUDES the huge rosemary bush.

I'd just like to thank all of you for inspiration, because seriously, two months ago the garden looked like utter hell, dead stuff all over the place and frozen dirt.
