Title: Block Web Site Suffers Third Outage

Kansas City, Mo. (April 7, 2000) -- For the third time this tax season, H&R Block's Web site experienced problems that prevented users from preparing their returns online.

With less than two weeks to go before the April 17 filing deadline, Block's site was reportedly knocked off line for two hours on Tuesday by technicians who erred during routine maintenance work.

Visitors were involuntarily logged off the site at about 4 p.m. EST, while trying to complete their income taxes, according to a report on CNET News.com.

Block's site suffered two other outages that crippled its online tax preparation service for over a week in February.
