I'd think Picture It would work with your camera, unless it saves files in some proprietary format (which Picture It does with raw scans). If it does, it should have come with its own software. Try saving the file to your hard drive and then opening it with Picture It. If it is a JPEG or Tiff, it should open.

If that doesn't work, there are plenty of more powerful programs out there. None of them are as easy to just start using as Picture It though. Kai's Photo Soap seems fairly powerful, but it is difficult to use. Adobe PhotoDeluxe business edition seems to be a good compromise on ease vs power. Of course most people consider Adobe PhotoShop to be the end all, be all photo editor. I can't afford it, so I have never used it, although there is a light version for only $100, I don't know how much more it will do that PhotoDeluxe business. The Adobe programs will open most formats, but they don't open the .MIX files from Picture It, and I doubt any other editors do either.

I know this didn't really answer your question, but there are enough CoolPix cameras out there that I would think most editors would work with them, so the Adobe programs should work as well as any. Since I don't have the camera, I can't say for sure, but maybe someone will. I may end up with an extra copy of Photo Soap soon (it's in a software package I need), so email me if you want to try it cheap.

You could try Micrographx Picture Publisher, there was a copy being given away as a cover disk a few months back.

I use Adobe Photoshop 8 but I still go back to Picture Publisher.

It's easy to use.

There's also Canvas 6 but it's costly and I kept going to sleep watching the video on how good it was. It's still sitting in the cupboard.

Have fun with what ever you decide to use.
