Old Picture

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Southern Railway : One Thread

Around 1949/1950, my father worked for the SR at the maintenance shops at Ferguson, Kentucky. He had a picture of the first SR diesel coming out of a tunnel and crossing the old Pitman Creek bridge at Burnside, Kentucky. This picture was made just before Wolf Creek Dam was built to form Lake Cumberland forcing the SR to move the railroad. This picture also appeared in the SR magazine several years later. Does anyone have a copy or know where I can find a copy? Thanks.

Both my Grandfather, James G. Munsey, and Father, James T. Munsey worked at Ferguson. They lived in Somerset and rode the shop train to work. I recall having that picture someplace in the family archives. It has been some time since I last saw it, but if you are interested I would certainly be willing to search for it.

Let me know, Tom Munsey
