[FBI And SHRINERS] Peculiar Partneship Begins!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

The FBI has joined Shriners Hospitals in our effort to locate more children who need the type of expert specialized medical care Shriners Hospitals provide.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is encouraging their field agents in all 56 field offices nationwide to be on the lookout for children who may need the services of Shriners Hospitals.

The community outreach unit of the FBI's criminal investigation division has sent Shriners Hospitals informational materials and 800 number business cards to each FBI field office for distribution.

Agents have been encouraged, not only to be on the lookout for families with children who might need the type of medical care Shriners Hospitals provide, but also, if they are located near a Shriners Hospital, they have been encouraged to become involved in any community outreach-type initiatives Shriners Hospitals might be undertaking.

April 2000 ***** the last paragraph is the icing of my conclusion.

Help! Help!

The masons are coming, the masons are coming............!

This seems like a ludicrous way for the FBI to spend time-Is the head of the FBI a mason?

Contact your local Masonic Lodge for information and explain the background of the inquiry. There's a lot of misinformation about the Masons being disseminated. The Masons are pro-family, pro civil-order and easily accessed. Maybe the FBI has an emotional weak spot and cares about severely handicapped children who can't get state subsidized medical care. That tells me those inside dudes might know something the rest of us don't know about children and government subsidized health care programs that have led them to liase with private resources. Worth looking into, collecting information and making an informed judgement. Never hurts to ask.

AGH-

Sorry-I should have said tounge-in-cheek. Actually, I am a mason. I was raised in 1987.

The Masonic Shrine has a long history of helping children, no matter what. Their purpose is to help children in need, with little restriction. My dear departed father-in-law was in the clown unit locally but they did outreach globally. This is truly a great organization when it comes to helping children, no matter what! Go Shriners!!!

One of the tenets of freemasonry is that membership is based on attraction rather than promotion. My curiosity with this is that it is straight-forward promotion.

I still question, no matter how noble the cause, why FBI field agents would be directed to do this. Aren't they supposed to be solving crimes like identity fraud(of which I was a victim last year)?

Just wondering..........

Future:

Someone ELSE chose the name Future Shock? SHOCKING!

It doesn't make sense that the FBI is looking for kids that need the services at a Shriners Hospital. This information is made available to parents of severly handicapped children from a multitude of sources: schools, churches, city services, welfare services, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, etc. On top of that there is a waiting list at the Shriners Hospital I know of.

Anita:

You are one funny women. Can you imagine someone forging a license with my handle??

More seriously, you can all see now why I use a handle. Identity fraud is a terrible shock to privacy.
