PermaWash working solution

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

Just got some PermaWash (Heico). It indicates 3 oz. to 1 gal for a working solution. Any reason I can't cut that down to say make .5 gal with 1.5 oz? I'm only developing film with it (not paper), so I really don't need a gallon around.

Thanks

ben

Sure Ben, just mix up what you intend to use for that session......that's what I do. 1 0z. Perma wash/43 oz.water. That's more than enough for my sessions.

Limits on reducing the absolute quantity of a chemical are only given where the agent in question is rapidly consumed in the chemical reaction (such as the reducing agent in developer). Wash aids and stops are more or less buffered solutions, serving only to adjust the pH value of the sheets. So as long as you keep the ratio constant, everything is fine.

I only use Permawash for my film, and I typically mix about 10ml into 450ml of water for a single reel of film.
