Actual Time to Impact for MVET Cut

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I-695 Thirty Dollar License Tab Initiative : One Thread

I was told that the actual impact of the MVET cut won't be felt until one or two years down the road. Is this true? Thanks!

That would depend on many variables. The initial reactions from many local agencies and governments may have been an over-reaction.

At least one Transit Agency is attempting to lower the fares that were raised after passage of I-695 and are attempting to restore most of the service that was cut.

In addition, threatened lay offs of local law enforcement never actually materialized.

Based on the post I-695 realities I see, the impact is and will continue to be minimal.

In areas that the impact was felt the most, like at Intercity Transit in Olympia, voters will have a choice to fund a higher level of service. If they choose not to, then so be it.
