Hi,

We recently were given quite a bit of antique linen that has yellowed from storage.

Anyone have any tips on cleaning (whitening) this ?

If I remember correctly, laying or hanging it in direct sun will whiten linen.

Try "Grandma's Old Fashioned Bluing". You might be able to find it in a store. If not, the "Vermont Country Store" has it. They have a website

I think I've seen it in a few other catalogs, and it will be cheaper if you can find it in a store. It is meant for cleaning up the yellowing of white fabrics. Haven't tried it. My Mom used RIT fabric whitener. It can be found with the Rit dyes in just about any store that carries Rit dye. I have used it, and it does work. You might want to read the package for warnings about specific fabrics though. I've never had to clean up linen before. Just cottons and cotton blends.
