Favorite games not yet emulated

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

Now that MAME .36 final is out with 2,048 games emulated, I'm thinking of games that still aren't out there.

Let's see. Some of my favorites not yet emulated are all Atari: Breakout, LeMans, Video Pinball, Tunnel Hunt.

What else is there? Of course I'm still holding my breath hard for Megatouch :)

There's just one game in particular I've been itching to play again - Land Sea Air Squad / Storming Party by Taito.

I used to play the damn thing all the time at the local convenience store, sadly it's the only time I can ever remember seeing the game. And since I was a kid I don't even remember it all that well now. I've been trying to find a home counterpart of it to see what I was I found to be so damn fun about it, but I know that even today I'd probably find it to be a blast, what with my renewed interest in vertical "human shooters" :) (Shock Troopers, Time Soldiers, Mercs, etc)

I wasn't even sure what the name of it was until a few months ago, but I'm now 99% sure it's the one. Has anyone else played it and have some things to share with me about it? ;)

I played storming party alot BBH. I can4t say that i was good at the game, but it was a great game!! I remember myself (i think it was 86-87 something) traveling to another town just to play Storming party!! They had the game in a pizz hut res... Funny that you mention this game cause i have asked o lot of persons on the net about this game but nobody seems to remember it.. I hope they emulate Storming party soon BBH!!

What I remember most of the game was the good music! I can still recall the tune!!

Any more memories about this game BBH??

Regards

That's the problem - I can't remember anything about the game :( I'm sure the memories will come flowing back to me once it's emulated. There were a lot of things I'd forgotten about Time Soldiers but once it got added in 36b1 I was so happy remembering all the things in that game I'd forgotten about. I don't remember anything concrete it... you mention the music, I seem to recall a little tune that played in attract mode but I'm not 100% certain it's from this game.

And I've been asking everywhere about this game too, guess we're the only two people on the 'net who remember it. ;) From what I've gathered about the emulation status of it, it seems to have some sort of protection similar to Renegade but I heard that was dumped. I don't know if it's the protection that's holding it back or something else (like everyone overlooking this little gem), but it seems that at the very least the roms HAVE been dumped.

Whenever it gets emulated, I'm sure we'll have a little battle over the high score, eh QRS? ;)

Yeah BBH a litle race with Storming Party would be nice!!

I remember some of the first level of the game I think... You where a soldier (like in Ikari Warriors) The game was indeed a running Human shooter BBH! It fas rather fast but not so difficult I think.. One thing of the first level I remember is that you traveled over some desert and came to a river or a sea, where you was forced to go for a boatride (correct me if I4m wrong BBH) then you came to a fort with a LOT of deadly canons aiming at ya!! I also think that you could enter a car or a tank like Ikari Warriors..

Bringing back any memories now BBH??

Gng And Ghouls.. are classic arcade games but i wonder about Super Ghouls4n Ghousts?? Is it an arcade game??

I played super g.g on my snes console I remember and i have it now on my capcom arcade classic on the PSX, but i have never seen it in a arcade. If Capcom have it on a classic arcade collection it must be an arcade game or??

Anyone who knows?? Will it be emulated on MAME??

It`s gotta be 'Stun Runner'. Although I`m assuming the hardware is hard to emulate, not to mention the fact that if the game is ever emulated, the controls will be.....ehh.....CRAP...(a la Star Wars ).

'Bonzai Adventure' is another good game I haven`t seen for years....

ALEX....( Stun Runner - 72 speed boosts, 172 kills...can`t remember the rest : )

A little late here I know...

yeah, I definitely remember the water part on LSA Squad/Storming Party. There was a boat you could get in on water, a tank on land... what was the air vehicle, a helicopter? Man, I really wish I could remember other details.

The recent WIP updates on the MAME page made me think of another human shooter I'd like to see added soon - Caliber 50 by Seta. Never got to play it too much but the thing that always stuck out in my mind was how you had the option to mow down farm animals if you were in a sick mood. :) Seemed like a fun game though.

What about Monaco Grand Prix ?

It was a great game, but it doesn't use any microprocessor I think......

Well BBH, i must say that you seem to remember a lot of those "forgotten" games!! I remember that game when you can kill some animals hehe rather sick stuff I think but it was a lot of fun at that time !!!

I remember that Caliber 50 was a good game but it was not an easy one....

About Storming Party: I don4t remember if i was a heli thet you could embark but yes, there was some kind of airvehicle..

Yes BBH and i have whistled that Storming Party tune for a couple of days now hehe

By the way do you read notes BBH? If that4s the case i4m sure that i could write down the Storming Party notes to you if you want.. hehe a good tune it is

ps Do you know anything about super ghouls4n Ghosts BBG? If it is a real arcade or just designed for the snes console??

The Monaco GP - that comes back to me -- That was one (like Turbo) where the score was in LED's off the screen, and the patterns repeated themselves, and the masters of the game would max it out at 9,999.

-- Donut (glenwpc@home.net), April 06, 2000.

Sorry, I'm musically inept. :( seems to be a lot of musicians on MARP tho, hee...

Oh, and Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts was made exclusively for SNES. There was already an arcade conversion for Genesis so I guess Capcom wanted to do something new for the SNES...

My turn! Any VS. game created by nintendo - ESPECIALLY VS. Excitebike. It's a rare rom and I can't pick it up :(

Plus it'd be an interesting competition - especially when it comes to the famous super mario brothers... who will finish the best?

NBA Jam and it's cohorts needs to start working as well.

-- Gameboy9 (goldengameboy@yahoo.com), April 09, 2000.

I saw on the MAME WIP page that they were trying to get the Nintendo VS series on there, that was about oh, around the .35 or .36 early betas. I liked Super Mario, Hogan's Alley, Baseball and Golf.

Speaking of Nintendo, here's another one: Lunar Pool, which I have for the original NES -- I'm not sure if it was a coin-op, never saw it as one. I like this game -- 60 levels, 30 different table shapes, and the more consecutive balls you pocket, the higher the points.

I might as well contribute to this post seeing I have been dormant with the uploads. These games I would like to see emulated... SOON! Fire Truck, Wheels, and can't believe no one has mentioned one of the most addicting games next to Tetris, it's Dr. Mario for the Nintendo Vs. system. That's one game I dominate on and also one me my title from Daytona Beach Fl. to advance me to the finals in Orlando against 50 other competitors. It was called the the 1991 Nintendo Champus Challenge.

Regards,

Steve Krogman

PS I'm sure I have a few more but will have to come back and post them at a later date.
