Previews : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

Just an observation, but based on the previews for next week's ER, I think we have been misdirected *very slyly* by the writers and Noah Wyle. Carter doesn't seem to have crutches (or even a cane for that matter) and there doesn't seem to be any indication that he's in any pain. (esp. from the way he was sitting on the counter top) So, any new speculations on what's going to happen next?

Ah, ah, ah...I know I at least have been fooled by them before. Remember the one from this season when that little red-haired obnoxious girl died from vitamin (iron?) poisoning and the spoiler had promised a shocking, powerful "er" full of the unexpected? That epi/storyline hardly lived up to the suggestions...

As for why Carter might be feeling no pain...well, maybe he's "taking care of it" and continuing to put on a brave face so as not to show his weaknesses. Just a thought.

Carter "feeling no pain" could begin to develop the storyline (spoiler) that I read about him self medication and battling an addition to pain killers. It would make sense. Enough vicodin or morophine and he would be able to do sommersaults, so a day at work wouldn't phase him.

Whatever the true season ending story line will be, my only thoughts are that I feel that the whole stabbing epi. was not quite finished. Does that make any sense to anyone?!?!?! It is like they just totally forgot it happened. I don't know. I don't want anyone to think that I want them to carry it along for months, but it just felt that there was not a conclusion to the whole thing.

Yes, I agree with you, for instance, what happened to Paul the stabber ? and did the police ever question Carter ? I know the staff in the ER see dreadful things on a daily basis which probably desensitises them a little, but their reaction or rather lack of reaction to the stabbings is very odd, very cold. Also on the subject of Carter,( I live in Ireland and just saw "Be Patient" last night) It was very evident to me that during his conversation with Lucy's mother that he was full of guilty feelings. When Lucy's mother told him that Lucy talked about him alot and the fact that she was assigned to him in the ER, Carter was quick to point out that she worked with other interns aswell, almost as if trying to distance his relationship with Lucy - maybe to lessen the guilt ? (in his own mind). I would hate to see Carter's character go totally off the rails, but in the interest of dealing properly and realistically with a such a serious incident, I'm looking forward to the rest of this season of ER with the hope that Carter is ok in the end. Does this make sense ?

I also sort of feel that the stabbing thing hasn't quite been closed yet, but I think that maybe, probably, the staff doesn't want to talk about it at all thinking that if they don't it'll all go away. Then it seems that something big will happen to Carter (I keep away from spoilers, but this is obvious) and then the staff will have to face it. Just my take.
