OT: Pro Football

Reading one of my sports mags the other day, I came across an item about the Dallas Cowboys. One of their players, a receiver, was a rookie last year. The coach was talking to him about a particular play, a timing pattern. Coach emphasized that because the offensive line protection wasn't the greatest, if the route wasn't run exactly right the quarterback was apt to be creamed. "Run straight for exactly three seconds, you know, one potato two potato, and then make your cut." But the rookie kept messing up the play, until the Coach yelled "I don't think you even know how to count to three." And then, seeing the look on the player's face, he thought "You know, I'm really not sure he can." So he demanded that the player count to three.

"One" long pause. "Two" longer pause. "Three!"

At that, a commotion arose from his team-mates, who yelled "Aw coach, give the kid another chance."
