A buck a litre, but that's for a fill-up with the works

Petrol prices around Sydney have gone past the $1 mark, with one Woollahra station charging 100.9 cents for a litre of leaded petrol yesterday.

While the Mobil at Edgecliff Road (pictured) is slightly higher than competitors elsewhere in Sydney, which have prices for super in the high 90s and unleaded petrol around the 95c mark, it offers full driveway service.

The franchisee, Mr Cecil Dharmaratne, said few service stations in Sydney still do so.

He said putting on an extra staff member to provide driveway service cost about 7c a litre.

Other garages in Sydney had prices between 94.1c and 99.9c for a litre of super and between 91.7c and 96.9c for unleaded.

Comment:
Sydney is Olympic Games city 2000. I reckon prices will not go down much because there's an opportunity to make a buck - OZ Dollars of course. As for the rest of the country? Well, there are reports of $1.25 per litre out over beyond.

And I thought kiwi fuel prices were high at NZ$1.07 per litre. With the current exchange rate it actually means we are paying AUS$0.87 per litre. And that includes 12.5% GST.
