What the heck happened to Paul???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

Do you guys think we'll ever get closure on Paul or are we to assume that he went to the padded room in the sky - (a.k.a. tv never-never land)?? It want to see him in court. As sadistic as it may be, I wouldn't mind seeing his wife having sit on the witness stand, looking Carter in the eye and saying that her husband is not a violent man. I WANT THIS MAN TO PAY - whether it be life in prision or a place for the criminally insane. Something for goodness sake! Lucy deserves it and Carter who has to live with it deserves it for sure.

It is very rare on ER that you get any type of closure for patients. Hell, some of are hoping for closure on main characters!

I THINK HE NEEDS TO PAY TOO for killing Lucy and hurting Carter!!!! But they probably won't show it. The most they might do is have Carter mention that he had to go to court. So much for closure!

I think that with all this talk from the star about what happens or is supposed to happen to Carter (I hope I don't SPOIL anything here--hint hint--don't read anymore if you haven't read about the Star article) Maybe instead of Carter having a suicide scare, this Paul guy kills himself. Maybe they tell Carter there is a jumper on the roof, they don't know who he is and Carter needs to go talk him down and it winds up being Paul and he jumps. Then Carter leaves the hospital and leaves everyone guessing where he is, how he feels, etc. I don't think I put that the way I wanted, but I hope you know what I mean.

Whenever Carter gets closure (next season some time?) there may be some mention of it (like -- he made my life hell and all he got was sentenced to a psyche hospital or something). But I wouldn't count on much.

I was kind of hoping or maybe thinking that the writers would have Paul's wife come see Carter. Maybe apologize for what he did and all that. This is what I thought would be a good closure for the whole situation.

I'm not sure that Carter could testify about the attack even if we do see the case go to court (which I'm sure we won't). What could he really testify to? A defense attorney would make much of the fact that since the attacker came up on him from behind and stabbed him in the back, Carter didn't see him and therefore can't identify him as the perpetrator.

I hope we do get closure. The thing is, though, even if we do, it may not be the way we would like. We have to remember that Paul is mentally ill. It isn't as though he was in his right mind when he stabbed them. I wish someone would pay, though.

I was under the impression that Paul admitted to the killings "I had to protect myself" and "They were trying to take my organs" and with his wife starting to cry meant she realized he did do it and then when Mark said "Are you going to take him upstairs" (to the psych ward). I just figured that he was off to the mental hospital. Maybe I dismissed it too soon though. Dena
