A Delta Air Lines 727 carrying 86 people made a safe emergency landing Tuesday afternoon at Tulsa International Airport after a potential problem with the hydraulic system.

The flight, which originated in Little Rock, Ark., and was headed to Dallas, was diverted to Tulsa when a light indicating a problem with the hydraulic system illuminated, according to Peggy Estes, an airline spokeswoman.

Fire Capt. Hubert Rouse said several fire companies, the Haz ardous Materials Unit and the Technical Rescue Task Force were called to the airport at 2:43 p.m. to stand by.

"We train extensively for emergencies like this," he said.

The landing gear came down, and the plane landed safely, Estes said.

Mary Smith, marketing manager for the airport, said the plane came to a stop on the runway and was towed to a nearby gate.

Passengers were accommodated on other flights, Estes said.
