March 19, 2000

KINGSVILLE, Texas (AP) -- An Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed Sunday afternoon while performing maneuvers as part of an air show near Kingsville Naval Air Station, authorities said.

The fate of the pilot and other details were not immediately released.

The plane crashed in a field north of the naval base during Air Show 200, according to Navy Master Chief Jim Rostohar.

The rest of the air show, which was scheduled to include a performance by the Navy's Blue Angels, was canceled.

Kingsville is about 30 miles southwest of Corpus Christi.
