Brazil: Petrobras fined for new oil spill

Fepam, the regional state-owned environmental foundation, fined Petrobras at R$500,000 due to the pollution of 3 km along the coast of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

The company spilled 18,000liters of crude petroleum on the coast of the county of Tramandai while transferring oil from the Norwegian ship Front Sunda to the Almirante Dutra terminal. Petrobras will also have to contract an independent firm to audit safety conditions at the terminal.
