Hi Laura,

How many of you are there, anyway? - I mean the real you. We all know about those who impersonate you, but I'm more concerned about your seeming multiple personalities. Sometimes you seem witty and intelligent, sometimes sweet, other times vindictive. I think you need professional medical attention.

I thoguht you were leaving. Why is it so important for you to "protect your good name" here on this forum. People either like you or hate you, and you can't change that. Laura, I think you're blaming the wrong person, IMHO. I will personally vouch that Helen was willing to allow bygones to be bygones and give fresh starts for all. She was not against the spinoff site, nor was she against you using it. We discussed this in chat many times when the forum split first took place, and you were probably privy to those discussions on occasion. I would be unnerved too if someone thought I was doing something I wasn't doing.

However, would it be possible to match up the IP address with the various suspects, and hence publish the names of known trollers or spammers.

When IP addresses are displayed, you CAN tell one poster from another. Furthermore, when you can tell one person from another, you don't need to find out what their names are, because in a sense, you (and everyone else) "know" who that person is. It eliminates guessing games, it keeps everyone honest.

In the years I've been on the internet, I've been on fora that DID and DID NOT publish IP addresses. At one time I even had a list of the IP's of folks who posted at Debunkers. IP's are NOT constant, and that was ONE failing of the moderators at TB2000 I. Both Laura and Marianne Michaels [to take ONE example] would come in under AOL. AOL has numerous high-order nodes, and users have no clue which one will be assigned at log-in. In checking MY OWN IP addresses, I noticed MANY variations, and *I*'m one of the few who ONLY come in under one ISP. It's a waste of time to attempt to track folks based on IP. My complaint to Diane regarding an imposter resulted in her telling me that Maria was the imposter. WHY WOULD Maria post as ME, when Maria herself was suffering from the same thing? It's laughable, and Maria and I DID laugh about it.

Anita, you're partially correct. There is a way to tell who's who from IP's, even from AOL, but it depends on a couple of variables of which I'm not going to discuss here so as not to give away my Ace card, so to speak. Wether the classic TB2K sysops new this or not, or consistantly used it, I don't know.

Laura and everyone, you all seem a lot more agitated than I am on this issue. I don't need help or advice at this time, so everyone please relax.
