BELL'S SUPERSTORM' TO BE MINISERIES? By MICHAEL STARR

TURNER Broadcasting is closing in on a deal to turn spooky radio man Art Bell's best-selling book about a looming weather crisis, "The Coming Global Superstorm," into a miniseries.

Insiders say the deal is a pet project of Time Warner boss Ted Turner -- a rabid environmentalist who owns millions of acres of land out West.

"Ted Turner has, for years, wanted to find an environmental property," said one source, who added that the project is also being shopped around to several other networks.

Turner Broadcasting is the parent company of TNT and TBS.

"Superstorm," which Bell co-wrote with UFO expert Whitley Strieber, warns that global warming will have potentially catastrophic effects -- plunging the world into a cataclysmic ice age that will wipe out life as we know it.

Bell and Strieber write how killer tornadoes, violent tropical storms and mercurial temperature changes are warnings of an environmental disaster.

The weather-disaster miniseries would be a departure for TNT which has rarely done multi-part movies.

Bell's apocalyptic views are well known to listeners of his immensely popular, nationally syndicated "Coast to Coast" radio show, which airs locally on WABC (770 AM) at 1 a.m. and focuses on the paranormal.

Bell broadcasts from a trailer parked in the barren Nevada desert outside Las Vegas.

Bell made headlines in October 1998 when he abruptly "quit" his show without explanation.

It was later learned that Bell quit the show to care for his suicidal son, who had been sexually molested when he was 16 by a male teacher now serving a life sentence on sex and drug charges.

Bell eventually returned to his show.

Strieber has written "Confirmation: The Hard Evidence of Aliens Among Us" and hosted a 1999 NBC special based on the book.

Turner officials were unavailable for comment.

Art Bell is alive and well and living in Remulon. Ted Turner is daily attending the Church of What's Happening Now with the recently born-again Ms Fonda.

Nemesis, you stand corrected. Ted Turner is attending the Church of Whats Happening Now Baby, sans Ms. Fonda.

Art and Ted can be found on their recently created internet forum entitled "SB2000" [Storm Bomb 2000].

From the main page...

"SB2000 is a highly moderated forum which welcomes like minded individuals to discuss preperations for the inevitable superstorm which is about to swirl into all our lives. Please feel free to drop in and brainstorm with us as we discuss the coming catastrophe's effects.

Topics will include:

* Best bug-out locations to avoid being caught in a tornado cutting a 700 mile swath and lasting up to eight days.

* Is gold too heavy to be lofted into the air and become just another dangerous projectile? (How much gold should you "hold"?)

* 14 days of preps to get you through the next two decades of darkness.

* What will be the superstorm's effect on contrail/chemtrail distribution?

* Quickest way to dig a storm cellar 12,000 feet deep.

!!!Links to Dr. Gary North's new "Superstorm" website now available here!!!

Join Art, Ted, Hawk and our crew of 18 sysops as we discuss all aspects of the coming apocalypse."
