Canada, Nunavut Territory: $3.5M computer glitchNational Post
RANKIN INLET - The government of Nunavut spent $3.5-million on a computerized payroll system that it later abandoned. Kelvin Ng, the Finance Minister, told members of the legislature that the "Peoplesoft" system was abandoned after a number of years trying to develop it. The territory has since hired an Ottawa firm to provide its payroll system. "It was a total of $3.5-million basically chucked out the window," said Hunter Tootoo, an MLA.
