"Cut and Paste"

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

What format is successful for "cut and paste" into the text area of this message post format? Can not get it to work, using AOL 4.0 and win98. Cut and Paste works online in emails and on most other documents. Whats the trick here?

Is it necessary to use one of the browsers like IE or Netscape?

See lots of good stories around, but they are usually too long to retype.

Thanks.

If you can just cut/paste the URL of the story, or retype it correctly, someone else will either cut/paste the story or make a hotlink to it.

Suzy,

I am just learning how to do it myself. Someone on the old forum gave me instructions, bless their heart, someone told me how to do the link thing to, but am trying to get pasting down first.

right click on what you want to copy, then go to where you want to paste it, right click again and then click paste.

Good luck!

Sandy

Suzy,

I don't use AOL but I assume you're not seeing a Paste option when right clicking with the mouse. If that's the case, try using Ctrl-V (hold down Control key and hit V). Ctrl-C to copy and Ctrl-V to paste works in virtually any Windows program.

Suzy,
Use Jim's sugestion of Highlight and Ctrl-C to "get" the story.
The next step to really make the text look "proper" is to paste into an empty file on your computer. I use Textpad to edit the stories I post. It can Preview the story in a browser window (using IE at least...), this gives me a chance to correct most of my mistakes.
