Forum is moving to new home on ezboard

Answers

The ezboard has many new options which should be examined and utilized for the best possible satisfaction. Initially it's clumsy to navigate until you choose new preferences to streamline posted topics and scrolling options. Then you will truly appreciate its many features not available on this classic forum.

I'm sorry, I'm having a rough time navigating so that I can find all you guys & gals who I have appreciated this last year...where is hawk...and squirrel hunter...Pieter from down under...where did everyone go...don't tell me, "to the ez -board..." because I don't find anything very ez there except being lonely and confused about where you guys went...I'm not your polly or troll...I still have the same name...so you know who I am and I feel that the old forum was better for non-literate computer users like me... Sorry...but not sorry...I miss the old way even if there were complete idiots, trolls and pollys around... BRyan

I tried the new site, but I need an "admin password". Please, someone, how do I get that? Bob K.

Sorry, Bob--try the hotlink on the announcement from Ed that the forum is moving to a new home, just a post or two below this one.

The NEW UNCENSORED TB2000

-- Carl (clilly@goentre.com), March 16, 2000.

look down in about dude link there dont assume sysopondutynow

-- not Carl (clilly@goentre.com), March 17, 2000.

I, to, am having a difficult time trying to link up with this new forum and find out what is happening after Y2K. The other forum was extremely fast and the discussions were lively, perhaps too much so at times. Now we are expected to create a community forum, give it a name, ten words to describe it, I became confused as to what was required and had to bail out. Can't figure out what the moderater would like a person to do. This plus Gary North's site is hung up way back in Feb. 4th, and breaking news is scarcer than hen's teeth. Can you please make registering a little simpler for us "newbies?"

Mr. Yourdon,

Why do you call yourself "sysopondutynow"?

-- wondering (why@are.U.hiding?), March 20, 2000.

It may be premature to assume that sysopondutynow is Ed Yourdon. It might be somebody else.

-- (an@alternate.take), March 21, 2000.

two moderators for a "closed" forum?!?

WHY?

(PS it says, "the forum administrator (ed@yourdon.com) has cancelled notification....blah...." when I submit this answer. Why wouldn't I think it is him?)

Why are you hiding Ed?

-- (why@re.U.hiding?), March 21, 2000.

You might think it's not Ed because he hasn't been a sysop here for 10 months or so. The forum was left in his name as an honor because he stated it. There is a maintenance team doing chores like letting people know the forum is closed except to researchers, and maintaining the integrity of the forum. These folks are from the team that was the sysop team at rollover and after.

i AM a number..... ...SYSOP # 3

-- Sysop # 3 (sysops@re.us), March 22, 2000.

thanks Peter.

Will the embarrassing statements from the archives be...."altered"....or will EVERYTHING (the good, the bad, and the ugly) be left intact?

-- (not@num.ber), March 22, 2000.

The archives are being left as is. Warts and all. I and the rest of the sysops fail to see why we would change anything. In the MAJORITY of the 300,000 posts, we ALL were sharing honest opinions and points of view. The minor fact that we were incorrect is nothing for honest peole to be ashamed about. I've been wrong about a LOT of things over the last 48 (almost 49) years. Wouldn't go back and change any of THAT if I had the opportunity, and wouldn't go back and change anything in the archives. Serves as a lesson in humility.

Only a very insecure person would try to change a historic record that did not bear him or her out. NONE of the people who have the keys qualifies as insecure, by a LONG stretch. Stop worrying about sysops changing the archives. Not gonna happen. NOR are later day revisionist posts/spam going to be allowed.

As a BTW:

There exists a single CD copy of the archives from early Dec 1999. THe sysops DO NOT HAVE IT and NEITHER DOES ED. It's in the hands of one of the posters. (S)he has assured me that nothing has changed and that I will be told if (s)he finds anything that has.
