Is this email tax bill 602 an urban legend? How could it be administered?

That my question. It has to be an urban legend, right? If not, who do I shoot?

Yes, this is an urban legend. Go here and look under "internet tax" in the search engine.

...or, if you'd like it straight from the horse's whatever, here's what the friendly folks at the USPS have to say about it:

E-Mail Rumor Completely Untrue

Robertis:

"email tax bill"

Depends on which of the rumors you are talking about. Tax on interstate sales; may be tried; enforcement is not easy; see sales from mail order. Tax for use of e-mail; hey, Ed just tried to prune the herd and create a cult; it appears that he got bit where it hurts!! Seems unlikely for members who want to be re-elected. Increased phone bills for internet use [this is private industry]. Will be tried and serve the cable industry well [people tend to leave an unpleasant place to go to a better place]. 602; as far as I know, it is bunk.

Best wishes,,,
