more on EPU usenet newsgroup

greenspun.com : LUSENET : It's All About Joe 90: The Discussion Board : One Thread

WARNING: this is long, please be patient. there's a lot of ground to cover :) below is a post that Kelly and i are sending out to forums where there is Joe 90 interest (and potential for it), as well as interest in all the other EPU bands. we are working on this with two other people -- Bryon, a Duke Daniels fan and Mike, a Neilson Hubbard fan.

please see the message from Kelly below for details. i know that with the number of repressed multiposting freaks we have here, we won't have a problem meeting the number-of-post requirements.

major, MAJOR props to Kelly for spearheading this campaign and for breaking things down so eloquently.

i will also be posting a link to a usenet FAQ if you'd like to know more about newsgroups in general.

thanks, and keep spreading the love!

------------------

I know that many of you are fans of the bands on the E Pluribus label and thought you might be interested in the following. A small group of fans of the bands Joe 90, Gigolo Aunts, and Duke Daniels, and Neilson Hubbard are working on the creation of a usenet group for the discussion of the bands on the E Pluribus Unum label.

In case you don't know, usenet is similar to a message board and can be read through a news reader or online at dejanews.com. Posts are archived indefinitely at dejanews. We believe that a usenet forum will be beneficial to both the fans and the bands this forum will be created for.

The creation of a news group can be somewhat difficult, so the more support we have, the more likely that we will be able to get this group created. We are looking to set this up in the ALT hierarchy under the name alt.music.epluribus. In order to do this, current guidelines dictate that there be at least 10 posts per day in current usenet discussion about the topic of the group. This means that we need to generate 900 posts in no longer than a 90 day period about the e pluribus label and/or the bands on them (Joe 90, Duke Daniels, Gigolo Aunts, Neilson Hubbard). We believe that with enough people we can and will accomplish this. We are asking for the support of anyone who is interested in a usenet forum to discuss these bands.

Here's what you can do to help: spread the love of your favorite epluribus bands on any usenet news group you want.

We are suggesting the usenet group alt.music.misc. Post there about the bands. Start discussion. If we can get enough fans over there, we are hopeful that the threads will continue, and we will have our 900 posts in no time. That's just 2.5 posts per band/per day! Once we accomplish this, a formal proposal will be sent which should result in the creation of our own group, alt.music.epluribus. How cool would that be? (Shhhh....I have even heard a rumor that if we can get this group created, at least a few of the band members from these bands will post there).

When you post to usenet, it would be helpful if you could include EPU: at the beginning of the subject line. This will help us to locate your thread for an official count, and help enable other fans to find your thread quickly and easily. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE remember to include the band name in the title also :) If you have any questions/comments about this, can't figure out how or what usenet is, or just want to know how to help, please email me(kellix78@aol.com) or Aimee (satylite2s@aol.com). All of the people involved in this sincerely appreciate anything you can do to help us achieving this goal. We are all REALLY excited about the idea of a forum to discuss these bands.

Yes! Go multipost until your heart's content :) We WANT you to multipost (as long as you use such key words as EPU, E Pluribus, and Joe 90 :)

Besides, USENET is the world's original multiposting forum. :)

Go to alt.music.misc and start posting. I started a thread there...well, thread if you can count one response (yay jessica!!) and another response by me :) well, we have to start somewhere.
