Motion to make MARP easier for new players

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

You know... I went wandering into the Snipercade message board this Friday morning(EST), March 3rd, and what I read in one of the messages was that MARP is too complicated to use.

Is it? Well then I say we try to make it a little more simplier, or at least more convinient for new players to sign on and make them feel welcome.

So therefore, I'm going to make the following motions:

1. Add a link for new players on the MAIN PAGE(http://marp.retrogames.com), near the top.

2. Add a link for new players near the top of the news page.

3. Add a link in the dropdown menu for new players.

When they click on the link, I propose we make a couple pages out of it, in this order.

1. Introduction Page of MARP.

2. Rules page of MARP.(In a separate instance, i.e., the rules page on the dropdown would be slightly different than the rules page for new players(as in it will have a link to move on to sign-in))

3. The sign-on script.

Please toss in any opinions to this what I hope is an important discussion. Thanks :)

Sounds great! The first problem i had being a new user was that it never seemed to "work" when i was first using it and this was frustrating. I would put on the front page that everyone first sees, is that "the marp site is very unstable and may be down for various amounts of time, if things don't work right at the moment, please try again in a few days."
