OT: My "Good News" story for the day

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

For those of you who knew about my son Brandon's accident, and for those who didn't, here's a good news update.

To recap, on August 25, 1999, our 15-year-old son shattered his 5th vertebrae in a swimming accident. By the grace of God, the best neurosurgeons California has to offer at Loma Linda Medical Center, and everyones prayers, he has recovered remarkably fast (I'm sure youth helps as well).

Today he had his 6-month check-up. The doctor released him to basically do whatever he wants (as long as he measures the risks against the rewards, he wants to go body boarding in the worst way... )

Brandon is on the high school swim team. He has been swimming for physical therapy since January but is now able to compete. Just in time as the swim season began on leap day. So he gets to compete next week and is really nervous about it...but the alternative goes without saying.

I just wanted to share this with my extended family because so many of you have sent such wonderful emails and well wishes. Because of the rollover and leap day I've neglected to thank all of you but believe me when I tell you that all of your thoughts and prayers have meant a lot to us all.

So, thats my good news story of the day!

Thanks again all...and God bless

Yo, Unc!

Glad to hear your good news!

(Must be my night to check in. 'Glad I did, for this particular nugget!)

Blessings!

:)

Uncle Bob, thats GREAT! Glad to hear Brandon is healing and will be able to compete again. That could have been a nasty situation with that kind of injury. Please let us know how he does with the swimming.

This is the best news I have heard all day. Special blessings unto Brandon. He will be doing great next week in the competition. -- God bless.

What wonderful news! Kiss Brandon for me.....but suggest (ever so politely) that perhaps body boarding should be put off for a while...Prayers work!
