Unleaded Gasoline     $0.9905      + $0.0505
Crude Oil                   $31.55        + $1.12

The biggest jump in a long time.  Gas up another 5 cents a gallon, wholesale, with no end in sight.

On the evening news yesterday (Channel 5 - Dallas, Texas) the rising gas prices were discussed and it was reported that gas prices are expected to rise by another 25 cents per gallon by summer. Gasoline prices in this area range from $1.35 to $1.45 for regular unleaded - 87 octane.

yeah, right

I seriously doubt that anyone who wants to abolish the gas tax would be happy to see the sudden decrease in highway maintenance and construction. While the road industries receive many sources of government (ie. public) funds/subsidies, lowering the gas tax would instantly cut the growth of the freeways smothering farmland and furthering suburban uglification to benefit greedy developers.

I say: abolish the gas tax (or spend it on solar hydrogen). I think there are too many highways and one day we'll have to tear up the pavement to restore cities and forests and farmland. Perhaps after the oil runs out.

Went to lunch yesterday in midtown Atlanta. When I left, the corner BP station was at $1.29/gallon. When I cam back, it was at $1.33/gallon.

Unleaded gasoline was trading at $.999 this morning @ 10:15 or so. Right now (11:20) it's at $.989
