Property tax bills mailed late, still due April 30

EVERETT, Wash. (AP) -- Snohomish County property bills will be arriving more than a month later than usual, but payment deadlines remain unchanged.

The tax statements often are mailed on Feb. 14 but won't be arriving this year until late next month, county Treasurer Bob Dantini said Tuesday.

He said the agency is working out some bugs in a new computer system that was installed in September.

"It's been a number of little challenges, no one big thing in particular," Dantini said.

In addition, a procedural change has delayed the reporting of surface water billing fees, which are added to many property tax bills.

Feb. 15 is the first day on which property taxes for the current year can be paid, and some property owners have been calling to ask why they have not received their statements, Dantini said. First-half payments are due April 30 and the second haslf is due at the end of October.

"We want to make sure everything is accurate and has the proper accounting for all the taxes," he said. "We want to make sure they are right."
