I believe that "Monty Got A Raw Deal" is about Montgomery Clift, a famous and creative actor of that time period... the actual song makes little sense to me beyond this, however, and I was kind of hoping that someone could help me out. (please?)

'Exhuming Mcarthy' is about Senator Joseph Mcarthy who was in charge of the anti-communist witch-hunts of the 50's and 60's in which many innocent people were killed simply because they were seen as a revelutionary 'threat' by the right-wing government of America at the time. Many lines in the song show this such as 'look who bought the myth' which is about all the propoganda the government used, and Mike Mills' almost hidden line, 'meet me at the book-burning'.This refers to the books that were burnt just because they had any mention of communism. That sucks! It's kind of like that film, 'Fahrenheit 451' where the fire brigade go around burning all books and printed matter.
