UNDERGROUND HEAT PIPELINE BURSTS IN MOSCOW

MOSCOW, February 28 (Itar-Tass) - An underground heat pipeline burst on Moscow's Polyarnaya Street at about 11 a.m. on Monday, a spokesman for the city emergencies center told Itar-Tass.

A passer-by man and a woman suffered hot water scolds were taken to hospital.

The traffic has been shut-down on Polyarnaya Street as of 11.40 a.m. Emergency services are in effort to seal the pipeline.

Hot water gushing from it flooded about 1,000 square meters of the road space.

The incident disrupted the heat supply to Medvedkovo, Babushkinsky and Sviblovo municipal districts. Efforts are being taken to restore the supply through a reserve pipeline.
