SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP)--A Delta Air Lines flight headed for John Wayne Airport made an unscheduled landing in Phoenix Sunday afternoon after a report of smoke in the cockpit, an FAA spokesman said. No one was hurt.

Flight 1281 was set to land at John Wayne at 2:21 p.m., however, it landed at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix at 1:38 p.m. with a report of ``possible smoke in the cockpit,'' said FAA operations officer Bruce Nelson.

The plane originally departed from Atlanta at 12:59 p.m., according to a Delta customer service representative.

There was no evidence of fire when the plane, a Boeing 757-200 series, landed uneventfully in Phoenix, Nelson said.

The plane continued on to John Wayne and landed at 4:30 p.m., she said
