ASX website survives hack attack

The Australian Stock Exchange's website is back up and running today after computer hackers gained access to the site.

The hackers raided the site about 8:00pm AEDT and left the message "prosthetic owns the ASX" on the site.

Stock exchange technicians in Sydney took the site off-line and early this morning were able to restore it.

An ASX spokesman says the site contains public information about the stock market.

It has no links to trading sites which the ASX says can only be accessed by accredited brokers.
