Has anyone ever seen the sky in the Maxx that says CHUNG CHUNG CHUNG all over it? Obviously a tribute to Peter Chung. I think it's really noteworth praise, since the Maxx had such good graphics itself.

"The MAXX" TV show is based on "THE MAXX" comic book. In fact, the show was just the comic book animated, no changes were made. Unless Sam Keith (the shows creator) knew Chung before the oddities, i think its just a coincidence. Its suposted to be like the sound of drums.

Now I have to go and watch The Maxx to find it, since I have been working lately I haven't had the chance but I will post it here as to EXACTLY where in the Maxx it is. It is the word, "CHUNG', written in the sky over and over again. I'll watch it in the next few days. I'm sure it's a tribute to Peter Chung, the interesting thing is that the animator (s), for the Maxx must've been impressed with 'Aeon' themselves. I only wish I knew if Peter Chung saw it himself. I'm guessing word was passed around the art community of MTV animators.

Got a chance to watch the Maxx tonight. God, the art was great, the exact scene, if anyone cares, is right after that memorable scene in which Julie is trimming Maxx's toenails, he says, "do you think were ready for toe nail cutting at this stage of our relationship?", next scene is the outback, with a huge expanse of blue sky, with many lighter blue "CHUNG"s, Maxx is saying to Julie "Gone, (if you remember it was Mr. Gone), told me how 3 years ago a young architectural student was beaten and raped and left for dead,... you will see the sky full of Chung's name. The music is quiet and slow and sad. No action. No drums. The camera pulls up close and the Chung's get larger and larger until they fill the screen. Chung is larger than life.

This is so weird, I went to a comic book sale today, and they had two of The Maxx, so I bought them, and guess what! The March 1, issue, the first page, it says Maxx, Maxx, ect,in a block of print, and where it stops, (black background, orange to yellow letters,) it says a little smaller, 10 times down,(and across the top too),"Chung, Chung, Chung" is the artist, Sam Kieth a friend of our Chung?

I'm pretty sure that the "Chung"s all over the place in The Maxx have nothing to do with Peter Chung. I remember when I first saw that sky full of Chungs I was like "Wow! A tribute to Peter Chung!" But then while watching the video there was a part where somebody refers to a character called Chung. I don't know who or what it is, but I'm pretty sure that when you hear that part you realize that it definitely is not a Peter Chung tribute.

I've watched the max over 25 times, no guy named chung in it. and if there was, then he'd be a brief reference, and there isn't, but do you think the guy with the brief reference would have his name all over?

ive been a reader of the maxx since it came out, in 1993, heres the truth... the "chungs" seen in the show and comic book its based upon represent the headaches maxx gets when hes about to go into the "outback". in those sequences you here a thumping noise, thats the chungs. Sam kieth the creator said it himself. Simple as that!

I can't provide a source except for my own experience, but... I've read all of the Maxx comics and am sure that the CHUNG!s are just onomatopoeia.

okay, so it's been a few years. but i just read this and "chung" is a simple sound effect. it's hard to understand that when it's on tv, but if you ever read the comic it is obvious. it is a rep. for the maxx's headacks and it is suppose to sound like drums when the maxx is passing from one world to another, or hovering between the two. it is NOT somebody's name. it's the same thing as "boom". there maybe a Tom Boom in the world, but when a comic uses the word "boom" it is not talking about him.
