OT?-TB2000 lives! 11,600 Dow top predicted here January 10---Print & TV News is Dead, Long Live Print & TV News

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

On January 10, 2000, we all first read it here at TB2000 that the top of the market was around 11,600 (so far, correct). Lately, when I hear the morning talk-radio, or I read the daily paper---I could swear that I read most of the articles YESTERDAY in TB2000. This site is days & weeks ahaed of the major media, and in fact, seems to be a source. Thanks to everybody here for contributing to a great board.

We agree; this Forum is the best watering hole on the Net.

There are various forces actively seeking to shut down / change this Forum, so please pray for its continuation if you enjoy reading.

Who wants to change this forum? Can you name names??? We should know..

-- INever (inevercheckmy@onebox.com), February 24, 2000.

Puhleeze....Sysops, founder, whoever, please don't shut us down...This is it for me....I live here! But, I saw US Air shutting down was first on FoxTV and I posted. Haven't seen much since. Just an anomaly?

-- canthappen (n@ysayer.com), February 24, 2000.

INever, we agree, you should know.
But we never name names, and they know who they are, and why, and maybe they need to hear how important / enjoyable this Forum is to the many regulars 'n lurkers.

One problem is that the Forum software is behind the times of the morphing wild Internet, and its Pappa is busy with other matters and is letting it go, resting on its laurels, sadly falling to the weedy wayside while other more robust software strikes to fill the gaps.

But the other software is not as reader / user friendly as this ...

If you would but read the archives of this place you would know that here is where the true genious of the world assembled in a congress to which there may someday be an equal, yet never to be surpassed.

Here, in this lonely little outpost of civilization, on a small and largely ignored server of an educational institution, known but to a few of the citizens of this planet, was assembled a cross-section of humanity, gathered from all places, from all walks of life and from all stations. From all nations we gathered here. To share amongst ourselves that which was to become the news of the future.

The genious of the many, shared with those of us less endowed with intelligence by a cruel nature, conversed here on every subject that the mind of man could conceive. Here we spoke of all matters which are placed before mankind, and we solved those weighty problems, together, as one. Each of us equal before the board, and all of us the same color, (blue), so that there was no friction caused by any of the usual strife of that which you call the real world. True equality, male and female alike.

You who have come here of late can not conceive of the true nature of this forum in the heady days of yore. No problem too small, too large, too complex, nor even too simple. We spoke from an even and equal plane. Each of us no greater nor lesser than the others.

Here, in "Wunderland", we solved the problems that even all of the Gods of the Universe were loathe to undertake. We did so with ease.

If you would know of the future, look then to the past. For in the past archives of this forum you will find the future.

Besides all of that crap, we also had ourselves a ball Y'all.

Have fun.

S.O.B.

BUT, a thread as horrifying as any (except maybe the Russian ones), has sprung ...

If Netizens want their freedom to last, they must seize the moment!

By the way, while we're on teh subject, I think a modicum of recognition may already be due to Sure M. Hopeful and maybe one or two other followers of Jean Commeau for what (so far) looks to be a very good, highly important, maybe historico-apocalyptic call, based on Fibonnaci sequences. Friends in my neck of the woods say TB2K is 'uncanny'. I tell them of all the different topics we discuss (they are not on the net) and comments on various news articles and voila, the next day or two it is on the TV, talking heads giving a 'short' version, but my pals know all the details and get angry that they aren't given when the stories are on.

I too think media uses this forum as a 'source', it gives them stories to start with and then double check with their sponsers that it is OK to air with a few PC (politically correct)revisions of course.

You all are appreciated more than you will ever know, this forum makes me feel much less isolated from the world. A big thank you ;-)

I believe Ashton & Leska may have misunderstood what is being PROPOSED. And it is a PROPOSAL, not a done deal.

It has been proposed that Timebomb 2000 move to a different location where there would be two major improvements that we cannot have here:

1. The ability to block certain IP numbers (as of spammers and disruptive trolls). They are at present deleted on sight Blocking those troublemakers will put an end to spamming attacks, which are essentially Denial of Service attacks.

2. The ability to lurk and read but not post until registered by a real e-mail address (which would not be public if so desired). This feature would also cut down on disruptions.

The archives should remain accessible.

Venues are still being researched so comments about user-friendliness cannot yet be made. If--IF--the forum is moved, the most user-friendly format will be a major consideration.

No, no, no, we're talking about a MACRO level, a long-time (well, late November 1998) threat, an orchestrated organized "coincidental" campaign, obviously (more than ever by now) egged on and paid for by various factions in the government. I.E. {ssshhhhhhhh} the @%#*_~* trolls. aka known as Chummers.

It has become SO obvious! And the latest spammer attack on the EVE of the .gov's announcement of Y2K victory! "Coinciding" with renewed media reporting on Y2K and even another cough cough Coughinsky announcement that the Bunker is freshening up for Leap Year monitoring.

Whooooo Boy, forces at work, turf wars in TBTP, it's all spelled out in this thread's first article:

It's like reading the evolving history of this Forum! And it was published, headlined, on MSNBC today!

Over in the UK the Blair Government is hastily passing a law that will enable the police to demand encryption keys with imprisonment for those who withhold (only country in the world to do so)

beware letting any party in power of the "left" or "right" with a large majority

S.O.B. you said it all so eloquently! A fine FRLian you are. " Each of us equal before the board, and all of us the same color, (blue), so that there was no friction caused by any of the usual strife of that which you call the real world. True equality, male and female alike."

This is what the Blue Ribbon Campaign is all about (click on the icon below)

The very name Timebomb 2000 says it all. A timebomb ticks for a while until it explodes. Who says we're not on a long timer?
