I'm new to this site, and i think its great! I just have a question reguarding Carter when he was awake in the ER. I have read several episode summarys and they all say that Carter let out that scream of anguish because they were putting a foley cathider in. I taped the episode and watched the scean several times and I don't under stand why people think he screamed from the cathider. Maybe it was just his back? I understand that its probably the cathider (seeing that several differnt people thought that), I just wondered what the clue was to assuming that. Are those things extreemly painful?

A foley catheter is a thin rubber tube that has a balloon on one end that is inserted into your urethra to drain urine from your bladder. I'm not a guy, but I'm just willing to bet everything that I own that it is not the most pleasant feeling to have. Chances are Carter was screaming about that. OUCH!!!

It is very painful,in fact,it is the most unpleasant experience I've ever had.

I had one when I had my daughter but was knocked out cold when they put it in thank god! All I can tell you that ving it taken out wasn't all that comfortable either.

I had one with my son, and I was NOT out at all, and it hurt quite badly. I think I am more afraid of a cathater next time than the actual labor. It wasn't nice at all. I would scream if I was him too.

Are you sure the catheter caused Carter to scream? Because the machines were beeping really fast right before he screamed. I also thought that the foley catheter was the tube that they put on his nose to help him breathe. Correct me if I'm wrong

Let's not forget the renal lac either. The foley outport was bright red, full of blood, so I'm sure this played a part in Carters pain!Phantom
