Subject: More airplane problems

Hi All!

I'm sure many of you saw the segment on the evening news last week about America West's computers running amuck and grounding ALL their planes because everything from the flight schedules to the crew rosters to the assigned planes to the routes got "eaten" by the computer. Hundreds of people were stranded in Seattle's SeaTac airport. Well, it has happened again and this time it's US Air. My son just called from Seattle and he's laughing, thank goodness. Right now he was supposed to be on a flight here for a month long visit, and the entire computer system crashed taking all the info with it. What do you think? Delayed Y2K stuff? Or hackers aimed at the 2-22-2000 date perhaps? I just find it a bit disturbing that not only do we have planes dropping from the skies in increasing numbers, but now you can't even count on getting someplace when you had planned to be there. I know, as an oft-traveled international flyer, that delays and foul-ups happen. But I don't think it's my imagination when I begin to notice that this large-scale and problematic issue is happening on an almost daily basis now to such an extent that it is reported to the media.

Hmmmmmm.........................

It's gotten so bad that I'm sure that I'm much more likely to die in a fiery plane crash than to be delivered on time to my destination simultaneously with my luggage!
