Let me explain; I have no dog in this fight; I'm not Vern but an independent. It appears to me that after the NH loss, the Dubya people felt that they had to win in South Carolina at all costs. That included moving to people who are widely thought [whether fairly or not] to be religous bigots. It appears that the folks in Michigan did not approve. What do you think this will do to the chances of the Republican party? Will they retain control of the House? I am assuming that Dubya will be the nominee. That is a given considering the closed primaries [like California; these are really closed regardless of the press]. What about the Ventura effect? What do you think?

I have no emotional attachment to this; but based on the figures, if Clinton declared himself King, I think that everyone would be happy.

If you think the results in mich are due to people considering Bush Vs. McCain and then voting McCain because they thought he was the better candidate, then your taking a terribly naive view on what went down there.

The political pundits from EVERY side (including a hard left black dude from NYC who is big on "reparations" for minorities -- no Republican was HE!) have been in agreement as to what happened there tonite. The Dems moved to one side of the boat to swamp it, and it worked.

The ONLY people who seem to think the results MEAN anything are the McCain people and the truly dense. And I think even the McCain people know its a crock of you know what.

That leaves meatheads like "Vern".

I did see a few people here saying that they'd vote for McCain OR Gore. Let THAT sentiment get out, and the 25% of Republican vote that McCain has now will seem like his wet dream, because he ain't gonna have ANY GOP votes except for maybe the "log cabin" and "ripon" contingents. And nwih do THEY add up to 25%.

The funniest thing I've heard in the last few days was this black gentleman from michigan....He said that in his neighborhood, they were going to all turn out for McCain, even though they're Democrats. And then he said, "on Wednesday, we're gonna go on TV and blast him and his ideas." !!!???*** LOL

Charles, I was wondering if anyone got what happened in Michigan!!! It's good to see that there are some people with their brains still working. I have been so frustrated by the fact that Dems and Inde's can vote in the Republican primaries in some states. The way the Dem's work it has been no surprise that they skewed the results by turning out for McCain and then in the general election will vote for Gore. Why can't people see that!!!! Michigan was a repudiation of Engler not a vote for McCain! Can't wait till this is over, my blood pressure is high enough.
