Worker Hurt In Juice Plant Explosion Alcohol Vat Apparently Exploded At Factory ANAHEIM, Calif., Updated 6:59 a.m. PST February 22, 2000 -- A fire and explosion at an Anaheim juice plant critically injured a worker.

A juice plant worker in Anaheim was critically injured when an alcohol vat exploded.

The blast originated in an "alcohol vat" at the plant on the 400 block of South Atchison Street Monday night. It exploded just before 9 p.m.

The worker suffered third-degree burns on his chest and face. He is recovering at UCI Medical Center.

Firefighters put out a blaze caused by the explosion in about 40 minutes. The cause of the explosion was not immediately known.
