Telephone company correcting glitch

Wisconsin

Superior - A local telephone service provider says it is correcting a glitch that has given some Superior residents a busy signal when they call across the bridge to Minnesota.

Cary Heyer, a spokeswoman for CenturyTel, said the problem was likely caused by the increase in computer users.

To correct the problem, the company added 96 trunks, or pathways, between Superior and Duluth last week and said it would add another 160 in the near future.

"We realize that several of our customers were unable to place calls to Duluth during peak times, and we apologize for any inconvenience," district manager Tom Braml said.

CenturyTel serves more than 100 rural and small urban exchanges throughout the state.
