Anyone summited Mt. McKinley ?

We are 3 norwegians planning to summit McKinley in June/july 2000 and would like to explore the different ways of getting to base camp other than flying in to the glacier. Anyone who hiked in?

The approach to the Muldrow glacier route (the original route to the summit) is done on foot. Apart from a few river crossings, the terrain seem ok. On the other hand, from what I saw from the plane, the terrain to approach the West Buttress seems unpractical.

I was on the mountain in the spring of 1999 and as I was leaving a group of folks were arriving at basecamp having hiked in from Talkeetna. Looking at the approach from the air it seemed nearly impossible. They had taken 2 weeks (i believe) and had run out of food late in the game, they had flown more food and supplies to the base camp, however and were able to resupply there. How well they did I do not know. Good luck!
