The aftermath of y2k...... or is it?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

As most of you, I was surprised that the world seemed to get over the CDC without any show stoppers. Yes, even the countries that did little or nothing were unscathed. We all stood our ground on every subject the human mind could come up with, pollies and doomers alike and nuda, zip, zero! That said, where are all those drops of blood coming from? We didn't see the cut, we didn't even feel it! So what's up, errrrrr ooopsie, I mean DOWN?

Oil - not lookin gooooood.

Planes - Looks like alot of EXTRA pressure put on them there screw thingies, striped them right down ya know.

Market - yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeooowwww

I don't want to make this long, the rest of you have done a great job of keeping up on the nony2k problems. The point I want to make is I think the Gartner group was very close in it's predictions on y2k. Also I don't think the .gov was very far off either. I think they knew all along the percent of any given scenerio. Oh yeah, don't forget the solar flare guys. They were right also, just a little off on timeing.

If I were to rate y2k at this point in time, I would have to say a 4 heading real fast for an 7. The play has just opened my freinds, keep your ear to the ground and your eyes wide open. I would also like to say a BIG THANK YOU TO THE SYSOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great Job Folks!

Godspeed.

Scotty,

Live long & prosper.

BTW, you can beam me up now.

I agree, this would be as good a time as any to get "beamed away" and out of harms way.

"Beam me up Scotty"

I'd prefer to watch this unfolding drama from afar, it is getting strange watching all these events unfolding.

Seems like a lot of pressure points and thresholds are being pushed close to their limits.

I don't expect a TEOTWAWKI anymore, thank goodness!

It does appear that a lot is happening though, still attempting to sort it all out. Looks like some things could still "bite us" in ways we hadn't thought of.

Or at least, not prepped for!

Yep, still cautious while still celebrating.

Preps give great peace of mind.

Been riding our mountain bikes a LOT ! :-)
