Rule 101.1 Enclosure of Machine Rooms

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Elevator Problem Discussion : One Thread

Where elevator machine rooms are required to be enclosed with fire-resistive construction by an applicable building code (Rule 101.1a(1), and openings are provided in the room enclosure to provide ventilation (Rule 101.5b), are fire dampers required in the ventilation openings to maintain the fire-resistance rating of the machine room enclosure?

Answers

A good question; I don't know the answer.

I believe that the intent of the Elevator Code is to defer to the Fire Safety Authorities on matters concerning that subject. Therefore, your question would best be directed to them.
