water main break in L.A. area this morning

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I found a post on another bulletin board saying there has been a water main break in L.A. - Hollywood/Beverly Hills area. It's on an earthquake prediction board, so there's more interest in it being caused from earth movement than y2k related...I'm still trying to find a newspaper article about it - just happened this morning.

Where is the site that gives earthquake predictions? It sounds interesting.

Actually, folks, the city gummints in Smog Angeles and here in Sandy Eggo haven't spend nearly enough on infrastructure over the past decade or two, and now we're seeing the results. For the past two or three years, we've had water main breaks seemingly every week 'round here. Nearly all of them have been the result of old (try 40 or even 50 years old) pipes finally giving up the ghost.

Always a joy trying to navigate around a closed, flooded street at rush hour...
