What colors are your walls?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nayad : One Thread

Today I'm painting two walls in my kitchen a deep blue-green shade called "marine blue." Do you have colors on your walls, or white? Why? If your walls are all white, would you ever paint them different colors, and if so, which?

Well, my walls, what little you can see of them, are white. This is because I don't want to paint twice and I live in an apartment. However, I have about a million things hanging on them... collector Star Wars plates, Fantasy and Sci-fi artwork (including a bronze framed picture of the "Three Reasons they Built Movie Theaters - Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi" poster and a six foot poster of the Enterprise) and Babylon 5 Collectable figures.

I'm not sure I would paint, even if I could. If/when I have my own place, I suspect I'll put up wallpaper (halfway, stopping at a matching chair rail) and leave the bottom of the walls a cream or pale ivory.

my walls are pink. depending on my state of mind, this either distresses or soothes me. it was highly unsatisfactory while i was going through my gothic stage, for example. i compensate with myriad pictures and posters...mostly of wolves. and there's always spazzle. http://members.xoom.com/chersplace/sly3.htm if you're interested.

if i could, i'd paint my walls pale blue. it's a colour i resonate with. if i had a whole house to work with...i'd do each room an appropriate colour. beautiful, vibrant shades. and probably one room with each wall a different colour in deference to the elements. yellow, red, blue and green.

My walls are a mixture of light blue, green, and white. I used a sponge to overlap the colors, making the room look almost like the sea.

As soon as we moved into our house, Elizabeth -- spouse, artist, painter, and foe of white walls everywhere -- spent happy days painting and wallpapering. With my help, of course, but she's the one with the glint in her eye every time the brushes and rollers lifted out of the paint. Our living room is now a peaceful blue-green (probably a lot like your kitchen walls) and friends who visit say that it's one of the most relaxing rooms they've even been in. The dining room is brighter, a cheery yellow mellowed with sponge work of a complementary color. Very pleasant.

My office still has white walls, but they are mostly obscured by posters from movies (and some planetsrium shows of my own creation), framed photos of Chaplin, the Marxes Brothers, _Casablanca_ and other fun stuff.

Of course, all wall colors throughout the house never clash with the abundant bookshelves.
