That's really horrible. Those streets are very narrow and get really crowded in the morning. Not with capitalists, but with low-paid clerks and secretaries. People are freaking crazy!

I know that building (I did an internship there in College just after they finished construction). It's down on Water St. near the Seaport about 4 long blocks from the exchange buildings. They probably chose this area of 'the street' because there are far fewer security cameras around. If you walk around Wall and Broad you can expect to be taped by dozens of cameras, some you can see, come you can't. Down on Water it's not like that.

Not just cameras when you get to the heart of Wall Street. The wife was doing business at 14 Wall St, next door to 10 Wall St (the Exchange) just last week.

When she got home last Friday she asked me "Why would the Marines or the Army be guarding the Stock Exchange? When I got there in the mornings there were guards wearing fatigues. During the business day there were guards in dress uniforms and after business hours the guards were back in fatigues. And all those guards were carrying M- 16s."

I can't figure why the US militay would be guarding Wall St either. But for whatever the reason, there's some well armed folks keeping watch there these days.

Whoa, WW. Armed *military* guards at the Exchange? Fatigues, M-16s??? Was Billary visiting? Whathehells going on that the Exchange has to have .mil guards on it? This needs more development than just a casual oh by the way. Does your wife have more details?

Mrs Weasel says they certainly appeared to be US Army to her. Wearing BDU's after hours and green dress uniforms during the business day, carrying long arms and wearing side arms.

Looking at where she was using the DeLorme Street Atlas cd, those guards may have been at the back entrance to the Federal Reserve. But she's very certain it was the Stock Exchange entrance that they were guarding. But either way, certainly yes, what by all appearances are US military personnel guarding something on Wall Street.

And she also stated that those are not the only guards out there. Wall Street itself is blocked/gated to all vehicle traffic for the block where the Stock Exchange and Federal Reserve are located. The gates manned by private security forces wearing blue coats labeled "SECURITY" on the back and they wear side arms.

I never had any idea that there would be THAT kind of security for the Stock Exchange.
