Kidd copper smelter back in business after a 47-day shutdown for repairs and upgrades
TIMMINS, Ont. (CP) -- Canada's largest copper refinery is back in operation.
Falconbridge's Kidd copper smelter was shut down for 47 days while the furnaces were re-built and other equipment repaired.
The shutdown was planned for April, but was moved up when the furnace failed before Christmas.
The renovation of the converting furnace is expected to increase the refinery's lifespan and production capacity.
Falconbridge said the smelter was back up to full production Tuesday.

Wow, that's wonderful news! I was worried sick about this.
