Best Starter Digital Camera for outdoorsgreenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread |
Digital cameras and what they can do seems to be changing so rapidly, I have decided to wait before I invest $1000. In the meantime, I would like a digital camera that can give me good outdoor images, specifically on mountain trails, and taking shots at swim meets. I'd like it light as it may be a backpacking camera. I'm looking at a price range of $300-$400.

Look at the Canon A-50. It's small with an optical zoom lens from 28mm to 70mm. I bought mine in Nov. for $318 from Egghead.com. A dynamite camera at a great price.

You may also want to look at the Olympus D450z. 3X optical, great pics and has some manual features. Look around, I have seen this under $400. See the review on this site.Tom
