My son is experimenting with growing wheatgrass, and he heard you shouldn't harvest it more than once or twice. Why can't you keep cutting it as long as it keeps growing?

Pearlie,An acquaintance of mine grows wheatgrass and sells it to local health food stores here in Central Florida. I used to buy some from him and asked how many times he cut it and the reply was that at $10.00 a pound people deserve wheatgrass that has been only cut once. I guess each time someone cuts it the grass loses more nutritional value. I cut mine twice. A good book on the subject is Ann Wigmore's "The Wheatgrass Book" published by Avery.
BTW if you have never had wheatgrass juice before - be prepared. Either mix the 1 to 2 ounces you make with at least 8 ounces of water or have water on hand to wash the juice down - In either case drink it fast. Bookworm

And it does NOT mix well anywhere near chocolate!Wheatgrass, the best thing for the bod after blood. It's green blood, and very purifying. Prepare for a major buzz if your body is fairly pure. If not, prepare to puke :-)
Have a delicious nutritious chaser immediately on hand ;^)

Does anyone know how do you actually extract the juice? Stick it in the blender and puree the whole lot? I've got no idea.
