I use 1010811 for all calls within Oregon. 10 cents per minute, no minimum, no monthly charges. I use 1010636 for all interstate calls. Five cents per minute, three minute minimum, no monthly charges. Each of these are seven days a week, 24 hours a day. 1010636 also only costs ten cents per minute to Canada, I have been told, but don't use it enough to know for sure. All you do is dial it; it is not my long distance server.

Unfortunately, I don't know if these companies can be used from other states, although my sisters, son and mom all use them, and they live in Washington state.

Did you know that there are free long distance services out there? Totally free ($ that is). You listen to short commericals - so many commericals gives you so many minutes of free time. If you have the time it is worth it. You can find out about it at clarkhoward.com He lists other free services too.

My Mom can use many of these numbers from ct . ,but up here in nys we cannot use them.Tha phone company said they are so small and they dont have a contract with these companys. Once again the consumer loses

My sister told me you can make long distance calls over the internet thru dialpad.com I think it is. But you have to have a microphone which I do not. Apparently your computer calls the other persons computer. Does anyone know more about this?

In December I dropped my long distance carrier entirely. I had consulted with an AT&T rep about lowering my bill, and together we determined that it would be better for me to drop them and continue to use a pre-paid telephone card. You should know that when you do this your local service does go up a little, something like $1.41 or there-abouts.

We have used dialpad.com. It rings in to the called parties phone. They do not need a computer. It sounds simialer(sp) to a cell phone, it cuts in and out some but is usable. And the price is right. It works best if you use a headset-microphone. Try it, it doesn't cost anything.

Thank you all for your help. I cut off the long distance and for now will use a card from Costco, 240 min. for $20. But I will try some of the other ideas.. Thanks

If you're looking for the lowest long distance fees, both in-state and out-of-state, I believe I have found them at www.ld.net/? comfort. Having a business that uses the phone heavily, I have been looking. Several key items to check when comparing: monthly fees, billed in 6 second or 1 minute increments, flat rate all the time, how much to call long distance within your state (where do you make most of your long distance calls). This website, www.ld.net/? comfort, I have posted allows you to check most of these to select your best carrier.
