Uncle Sam Says: "To Hell With Elections"

The United States has the right and the obligation to undermine democracies that elect leaders it does not like  thus the Clinton Doctrine. The Administration does not like Joerg Haider's Freedom Party. Therefore, it will humiliate and ostracize the Austrians until they abandon democratic constitutional procedures. "There isno place inside the governments who make up the Euro-Atlantic community, in a healthy democracy, for a party that does not distance itself from the atrocities of the Nazi era and the politics of hate," expounded the hideous Madeleine Albright. Haider has tried to do that. But nothing he can say will ever satisfy the hideous harridan. "There is a concern about whether the extreme hateful right could emerge in Europe," according to Samuel R. Berger. The United States, he went on, believes that "democracy is about more than elections, it is also about shared values."

To hell with elections, in other words. This is now official US policy. State Department spokesman James Foley explained the new doctrine. "What makes a democracy is more than simply a clean and free and fair election," he mused, "We've seen evidence in the past, I believe, around the world of governments that were elected democraticallynot acting democratically or not acting in conformity with democratic principles and with respect for human rights and things of this nature. And so I don't think that elections themselves are the be-all and the end-all."

Can anyone really doubt that we are in real trouble when major figures in our government insists that elections are meaningless, but that doing things "their way" is all that counts?

Is this hypocrisy? By not distancing from the Nazi's, do they mean not encouraging the private banks to offer a higher settlement to Jewish decendents? If so, then would it not be the role of the bank patrons to boycott those branches? Patrons being, among many, the uh United States .gov?

Support democratic governments? Why? Why should the US, a constitutional republic, be expected to support all democracies, when they don't even work? Or are we assuming the NWO dumbing down of Americans who believe Clinton when he says we are a democracy?

If this had been a party connected to some heinous left-wing or Communist organization I'm sure that the Klintoon Administration and the media would be hailing this situation as a watershed event of participatory government. Afterall, the voters and the Austrian government would have been "Big enough to overlook past events and to move on boldly to the future".

But as it was, this party is rightist, about like the National Front in France. But I didn't hear Klintoon, the media and the other European nations having cows when their leader, who also said less than damning things about Adolph, was running for President of France. Nor when he and his party were seated in the French elected body (I'm not sure is it a parliment or house or representatives).

However, I do see this as something to look for this fall. If Austria takes a beating in the world court of public opinion, look for media talk of "This can happen to America if we elect those Nazi-like Republicans to the White House". In a presidential campaign as low down as this one this early, I don't put anything past the parties involved.
