--what's with all these planes crashing, being forced to land with mechanical problems, smacking into each other? what's it been, like DOZENS since rollover? And the media don't think this is WEIRD? What am I mising here, have we always had this many problems with flying, or what? Is this "normal"? If so, excuse me, been on another planet last several decades, you'll have to excuse my alien outlook here, but something's WRONG. This is WAY too coincidental to NOT be y2k related in a lot of these incidents. Will we get the straight story, heck NOT, "they" won't even admit that twa 800 was shot down with a missile, completely ignoring a lot of eyewitness reports. Are we living in a nation of...well, LIARS is what comes to mind, but hate to paint with a broad brush, but I'm getting a smidgen nervous here, all things considered. Pipelines blowing up, waterlines going sky high, refineries blowing up and burning, sewage plants dumping zillions of gallons of grade -A poop water, all kinza weird paper work problems hither and yon reported, yada yada yada and this is NORMAL? Really? What kind of information do people have to see until they "see"? guess what...IT'S HAPPENING AND IT'S GONNA GET WORSE

I agree with you. Just what is up? Do we have the biggest coverup of news in this country or what??

What can we do though? Only a small percentage of us have our heads out of the sand and our eyes and ears open...

I know one thing-you won't catch me on a plane anytime soon or maybe never. My brother decided to take the bus to Illinois today instead of fly. A twenty-six hour trip by bus.

How do we wake this country up when we couldn't even persuade our family and friends of the potential problems of y2k and beyond??

Breakroom conversations at work have been centering around these very same questions. Seems the people [even in smalltown, midwest] are beginning to get the wind up.

Have spoken with many in my family northerners, west coasters....all are bewildered and befuddled about the recent [since roll-over] lack of REAL news. All [family & co-workers] are starting to think maybe, just maybe I'm not quite as nutty as they usually assume I am. [OK, maybe they were right in the first place....but NOT about prepping!]

I, too, would like just once for the newsreports to report on what's actually going on. But, as my daughter says whenever I ask for the impossible, "Cue the manical laughter....BWAAAAAA!!!"

and I thought I was scared two years ago when I first started researching the "potential" for problems and disasters.

It seems as if the "possible scenarios" are appearing before our eyes and on a daily basis.

People will not pay attention until it happens to them. Just like violence in schools. With the increase in gang violence and children killed with guns up by a co-zillion percent, did any of the school districts take a "pro-active" stance and take preventative or precautionary measures for a "potential danger"? NO, NO, AND NO. No one is willing to spend or find the money for anything until it BECOMES a problem. We have become a REACTIVE society. And only when a plane crash, oil spill, water contamination, virus attack, or some other disaster involves someone of the "elite" society will any awareness be seen.

It sad to say, but the average American doesn't know what is going on in the world around them. Some may complain at the gas pumps that prices are high, but do they know why? Do they care? Unless it DIRECTLY AFFECTS THEM, most turn a deaf ear and a blind eye.

Then there is the media. Think about all the scandals that news rags have brought to the attention of the people; at times even though it meant the destruction of a president - then look at how the collective mediums are blatantly ignoring the catastrophes that are occurring now. Just the dramatic increase in problems in the oil sector should be enough for a hungry newshound to overturn every rock and pebble to find who is to blame....for that is what they like to do - place blame. Why is there nothing but silence? Are they all so fat and happy and satisfied that the biggest story of the millenium is not worth reporting? Is there not ONE rebel amongst the hundreds of news professionals that is willing to risk his/her career for that "once in a lifetime" story?

That simple fact alone is beyond comprehension. This country was shaped by the actions of rebels.

To quote Dogbert if I may, "We are surrounded by dolts." or worse yet, zombies.

I think Y2K has got to be behind the spate of transportation and oil problems and will only get nastier.

But, don't forget human fallacy. Pollies can jump all over that.

Consider the popular myth that airplane crashes alway happen in threes. Meaningless, since there is no agreed-upon time span to collect the three, and no way to determine which event is starting a new set of three or is completing a previous set of three.
